The Impression for the Crown and Fixed Partial Denture

Abstract
The impression taking in the field of fixed partial denture is the procedure of obtaining the accurate imprint without deformation. The marginal fit, crown contour and esthetic requirements depend upon an accurate impression of the abutment teeth which is to receive a cast restorations. The impression of the abutment teeth should be reproduced well including the adjacent teeth and tissue as well as the cervical finishing¢¥ line.
The principal factors affecting the impression taking are as follows; the impression taking method, the exposure of the cervical finishing line according to the gingival health, the smoothness of the prepared abutment teeth surfaces and the characteristics of the Impression materials, but there is no single selection of the method appropriate to the above conditions.
Therefore, we discuss the following principal factors for the successful impression tak-
ing of the fixed partial denture
1. adequate mouth preparation
2. exposure of cervical finishing line
3. selection of impression materials according to the physical properties
4. method of impression taking considering oral conditions in the each patients
